FAQ

Online harassment: questions

Someone is threatening to leak my pictures. What should I do?

Do not reply and do not pay; paying usually brings bigger demands. Save screenshots and the profile link, block the account, tell one trusted person and report the online harassment to NCCIA on 1799. Our team can guide you confidentially.

Is online harassment a crime in Pakistan?

Yes. Under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, cyber stalking, sharing intimate images without consent and harming someone’s dignity online are offences. This is awareness, not legal advice.

Will my details stay private?

Yes. You can use a nickname. Only the support team sees your request and nothing is shared without your permission. Never send intimate pictures or videos to anyone, including us.

A fake profile is using my name. How do I remove it?

Report the profile on the platform as impersonation, ask friends to report it too, save screenshots, and file an online harassment complaint with NCCIA if it continues.

What to do right now

The first five steps

  1. Stop replying — never pay a blackmailer; paying only brings more demands.
  2. Save evidence — don’t delete the chat. Take screenshots showing date, username and profile link.
  3. Secure your accounts — change passwords, turn on 2-step verification, make profiles private.
  4. Report & block — report the account on the platform, then block it.
  5. Tell someone — one trusted person, and file the official complaint with NCCIA.
Your privacy is our responsibility

You can use a nickname. Only the support team sees your details and nothing is shared without your permission. Never upload or send intimate pictures or videos — we do not need them.

Digital Guard is a volunteer awareness initiative, not a law enforcement agency. We guide you and help you reach the official authorities; investigation and legal action are the role of NCCIA.
